on big and small …

On paper, Honolulu, specifically the City and County of Honolulu, is the eleventh-largest municipality in the United States.  The weird (and cool too) thing about Honolulu, though, is that it truly is both a big city and a small town at the same time.

The downside of this big and small thing is that because many people who live here think that Honolulu is still a small town, many of them are very opposed to rail transit even though it can take close to two hours to commute the twenty miles from Ewa Beach to Honolulu during rush hours on a bad day.

On the other hand, you have to love a big city where the news reports that the head of Lani Moo (the cow character that came to visit us in elementary school representing the Meadow Gold Dairy in Honolulu) has been found after it was stolen!!!  The man who found it in a parking lot near the Ala Moana shopping center got a year's worth of free POG (that would be Passion-Orange-Guava juice)!!!

SCORE!!!!

It just gets better!  This is from a post by someone called Frankie's Market.
