I don't have anything against the Lakers or against Michael Jackson, but am I the only one who thinks that it is bad form for a broke city that is cutting services left and right to pay anything at all for a victory parade and celebration or a memorial service for a pop icon??? I know that I'm a bit out of the loop, but I'm guessing that there are some homeless people, hungry people, mentally ill people, and/or people without medical coverage that really could use more services than they're getting now (even if it is just a little more).
Apparently, the city will only be funding "police costs," but jeez … I still don't get that …
