Rats: Observations on the History and Habitat of the City’s Most Unwanted Inhabitants—Robert Sullivan

Do you have pets?  Even if you don’t, you probably do—rat pets.  Rats are pretty amazing creatures.  They’ve proven to be able to survive the testing of nuclear weapons on islands of the Pacific.  They thrive in the wild, and they thrive in the wilds of our cities and suburbs.  The bottom line is that rats are survivors and they have the amazing ability to thrive EVERYWHERE!  Most of all, rats thrive when they live with and around humans.   Rats is the result of the author’s thorough, if odd, research.  Sullivan does everything from interview some of the leading pest control experts in the world to sitting in an alley in New York with night vision goggles and a notebook watching his rats in the dead of night.  Delightfully creepy and very surprisingly engrossing a read!

  1. You have no idea how much I HATE RATS. I live in house in a big city
with an apartment complex behind it — it's a very nice complex but
still…dumpsters, right? I haven't SEEN rats or HEARD them, and I
manage to keep the possibility that they're out there shoved into one
    corner of my mind. Usually.
