A very talented friend of mine wrote, directed, and produced a really amazing documentary that he screened last night for a Los Angeles audience. The Long Green Line is Matt's film about a legendary cross country coach in his 50th year of coaching and his team's quest to earn their 25th Illinois State championship for the York Community High School–the high school Matt attended in Illinois. I have to say, it is an amazing experience to see a film created by someone you know. I remember Matt talking about his film when it was just the germ of an idea and to see it as a finished product is truly a special experience. When you know a film maker, even little things like recognizing his particular aesthtic sense in the way the text in his opening titles read brings a smile.
If you have a chance, be absolutely sure to see his wonderful work!
