Alas … Things seem bleak. The economy is cratering.
There is, however, a silver lining … But I guess only if you are former Attorney General Alberto Gonzalez. The Justice Department's Office of Inspector General and Office of Professional Responsibility released a huge 392-page report that, apparently, was pretty critical of Gonzo. Thanks to the financial meltdown and the dysfunction in Congress, however, the story was buried on a back page of the Los Angeles Times. Gonzo must be breathing a sigh of relief. I'm sure he'll continue to live the good life and make a lot of money speaking to conservative groups. In bad situations there are usually winners and losers and in spite of it all, Gonzo seems to have come out a winner this time around.
I haven't read the report, but if you're the ambitious type it's available here (It's big!).
