I've been in a bit of a reading slump, but I just finished this one …
What would you do if you had only one year to live and you knew it?
Ben Wolf is in just that position. The summer before his senior year, Ben finds out that he has just one year to live. Because he was very tiny as a child his parent held him back in school for a year making 18-year-old Ben a legal adult with the right to prevent his doctor from telling his parents. Against the advice of his doctor and a counselor, Ben decides to forego receiving treatment for his, ultimately fatal, disease and he elects to not tell anyone about his condition. Knowing that he has a very limited amount of time to live causes Ben to make some choices that he might not make should he have a lifetime to live like most other people his age.
If you were in his position, what do you think you’d do?
